Whew, life sure flies by when you're working...

We had Officer's Councils a few weeks back, it was good to fellowship with our friends for a few days. We had the opportunity to see a Video Game Music Symphony! We were not too sure about it at first, but it was probably the coolest symphony I have ever attended! They had a guitar hero contest before the show and the winner played during the show... During a challenge on the show he scored over 245,000 points playing Aerosmith on Expert!!! They claim that is the highest ever on that song, but I have yet to find proof. It was pretty amazing, I have never seen someone that good on a video game!

On our way home from OC, our van broke down in Jackson. We were about to stop for Starbucks when smoke started coming from the hood and it smelled like it was burning. We stayed the night in Jackson and used a dhq van to get home...The van we were in is the same one we had in Selma, the one we drove when we got married! It is so old and beat up, there has been enough money put in it to buy two or three new vans. We are working with a board member on a plan for the poor thing. Right after we moved here it broke down and we put a new engine in it, the word "Done" came up on the odometer! I think it's ready to be laid to rest. It will be missed but has been immortalized in our wedding pictures...Poor, poor thing...

Our excitement didn't end when we made it home...We got home on Saturday and everything was fine until Dylan woke up at three am unable to breathe! He has NEVER had any problems with breathing or asthma, just allergies. He was slightly congested earlier in the day but it was barely noticible. He was crying and gasping for breath so we rushed to the ER, they did three breathing treatments and a steroid through an IV. He had Croup but his throat muscles were so constricted he had a hard time breathing at all. He was so sad and pitiful, but he made some great friends with the nurses! I ended up taking him back again the next night, after keeping him home all day Sunday. They said to keep him home all week if possible, he saw the pediatrician and she said to keep him home but he would be fine. Of course I now have his cold and it has become a sinus infection!

This week we are working on the Fall Festival, Angel Tree, Corps Reviews and programs in general...I better go, I'll try to get more time on here later this week...Maybe share some things about our Corps Plans...

Blessings, don't forget to vote whenever that may be for you and yours...

  • Ok, so I am posting some pics and then heading back to Facebook...I never thought that I would be bored with Xanga, but I love Facebook. Well, the new interface kind of sucks, but I'll adjust...

Today was a good day, we had a good crowd at church, I preached! Of course my fave thing to do is preach, but it's Donald's turn soon! I believe he has only preached about three times since we have been in G-ville...He has been doing Children's Church and they about killed him this morning! One thing that I am really loving about these Corps Members is their willingness to discipline the kids. We had a couple of young girls writing some nasty notes during church, Donald tried to handle it and they laughed at him. Our CSM and another leader got involved and REALLY handled it! We do have to work on the whole spanking kids in the nursery, but other than that they are good with the kids. Our kids are so out of control it's ridiculous, but I believe with time and STRICT discipline they will come around. Of course we will through some love and attention in the mix...

We have a busy week ahead with meetings and church...So, enjoy the pictures and have a good week! Don't forget to watch the debate on Friday night, it's going to be AWESOME!!!

Here are pics of Dylan's first soccer practice! They have a league for the under four group, they play for about forty-five minutes. Dylan didn't want to wait his turn, but he could really kick the ball!

Here he is waiting for the coach, that red and silver ball is actually his ball. They each have to bring their own ball. He doesn't have a uniform yet, it has to be ordered.

Not paying attention, at least he comes by it naturally!

The following are pics from my cousin's wedding. Will, my cousin met Melissa through his best friend's girlfriend. She is a student in Montgomery, the wedding was just outside of Selma. Will is returning to Germany on Wednesday and will begin his next twelve month tour of Iraq in December.

  • So, I know that millions of people are awaiting the arrival of Ike...Actually I am watching the coverage right now, watching Geraldo and his trusty palm tree. Truth is I would LOVE to be there in the midst, yeah it's a weather freak thing...

Anyway, I am praying for everyone in Texas and Louisiana. Reports coming are that several levees have breached in LA and there is significant flooding. Power was finally being restored in South LA and now it's back to square one. Since Gustav hit almost two weeks ago, TSA has served over 200,000 meals in South LA and MS! Donald is finally out of Houma, after spending the day loading fork lifts in tropical storm winds...He is spending the night in McComb and will be home tomorrow evening! Odds are that one of us will be leaving within the next week for Texas.

Right now Dylan and I are in Horn Lake, MS. We are here for Ashlee Woodcock and Stephen Wildish's wedding! We also went shopping today, for shoes and clothes for me. I found a nice dress for the wedding, two sizes smaller than I have worn in a long time!!!! It was also on sale which is always good. I bought Dylan some shoes at Target tonight, we get back to our room and realize that we left the socks at home! So, he will be sockless tomorrow, but his slacks should hide it...We were so funny tonight, when we came into the city and saw all the stores and restaurants we got so excited! In Selma we lived 30-45 minutes from Prattville and Montgomery. Here in Greenville we are 2-3 hours from any large city! We have a little more in G-ville than Selma, but I miss Target the most..

So, the day has been good and stressful...I will spare you of the stressful parts, the least of which was sitting for 45 minutes at the gas station! The gas stations in G-ville were nuts today! But, I am excited about the wedding tomorrow, and my cousin is getting married next weekend...

Well,  I should get to bed...I am dealing with insomnia tonight, but typing random things on here is making me sleepy. So, I am off here to watch the storm coverage until I fall asleep...You know I love being in the middle of a hurricane, but if I lived in Galveston I would not stay. Unless of course I was working for The Weather Channel and had a safe place to stay...My fear is waking up tomorrow and hearing of a huge death toll. Why don't people understand that the storm surge is the deadliest part of the storm? When you hear of a 20 foot surge, that doesn't include the actual waves, that is just the wall of water. Think of it like a Tsunami, because really they are about the same. Right now while the eye is over Galveston, people are out walking around in the waves! Anyway, that is my mini rant...Anyone familiar with Houston? They are showing video of Brennan's Restaurant burning down, it's basically burnt to the ground at this point. Apparently they have been in Houston for 40 years and it's a famous restaurant...

I am really going to go now...When life gets back to normal I will be back with my posts about the election and candidates...Don't worry I have so much more to say! Blessings, be safe and stay away from big walls of water...
